How will she float? Did you know that United States Navy ships are known as “She”? Did you know that throughout history, ships have been built with all types of materials? In this minicamp, children will learn a little history about United States Navy ships and ship building. After learning about historic ships such as the USS Constitution, “Old Ironsides”, and Baton Rouge’s own USS KIDD DD-661, they will build their own ship choosing their own materials. Children will learn about density and displacement and what materials will float and which materials will notOnce their ship is ready to sail, they will see if their vessel is seaworthy and able to float. Let’s go sailing!
