Michelle Cummings is the author of The First-Year Teacher's Survival Guide: Ready-to-Use Strategies, Tools & Activities for Meeting the Challenges of Each School Day, 5th edition. She will discuss best practices in Pre-K to 2nd-grade education, her role in managing Teachers Pay Teachers, a global online marketplace of educational resources created by teachers, as well as challenges of post-pandemic classroom teaching for Pre-K and elementary classrooms.

Bio:

Michelle Cummings is the author of The First-Year Teacher's Survival Guide: Ready-to-Use Strategies, Tools & Activities for Meeting the Challenges of Each School Day, 5th edition being released this month. The book is a comprehensive guide to teaching and learning providing valuable strategies, activities, and tools that teachers need to succeed in the classroom. The book addresses challenges faced by today’s K-12 teachers, updated with the latest tools, techniques, and many topics that are not addressed in teacher education programs.  Michelle has served as the Chief Academic Officer at Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT), a popular online marketplace of educational resources created by teachers, for teachers. Michelle has 30 years of experience as an educator, serving as a middle and high school English and social studies teacher, an elementary and high school principal, and a Chief Academic Officer. Michelle is also the recipient of The School Superintendents Association’s (AASA) National Women in Leadership Award, which recognizes female educators whose talent, creativity, and vision are exemplary. She is a graduate of Brown University and earned her Ed. M at Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has two grown daughters and lives in New York City. Michelle originally hails from New Orleans and is a proud New Orleanian.
